Naomi came up to my flat last night and we had a lot of fun together. Naomi and I are both of mixed race, however unlike me Naomi’s father is an American, and she was brought up there. This meant that she could not understand most of my English, however fortunately we found other things to do…
When we got up this morning, the weather was pretty poor; the sky was dark, rain pouring down and city was filled with sounds of thunder. This meant we couldn’t go out till after four in the afternoon. We decided on going to see “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, which was a terrible film, but of course you just don’t care about things like that when you’re in love♥
After the film we went for dinner in an Italian restaurant, there we talked about important issues like the difference between chips and fries, spots and pimples, as well as what our kids would be like, she told me that they would have her nose and my cheeks.
She couldn’t understand my English, but we found that we could communicate by rubbing our cheeks together, like cats on the Discovery Channel do.

Suddenly we found that we were chewing on the same piece of spaghetti!

Our night out from Naomi’s perspective.
When you’re in love everything seems pink!

So today I have finally got to hang out with the girl that I fancy. Her name is Naomi. I do believe that she is the most wonderful person I have ever met. Her beauty makes me feel so overwhelmed…I don’t know how I got so lucky as to be able to occupy even a moment of her time.
I feel like this whole time that I have been in Taiwan has been so wonderful and amazing..but nothing compared to the time when I am with her.
I’m doing well..and I’m in love.

Went to Chufen (九份) last weekend, where the film “A City of Sadness” (悲情城市) was filmed. For those of you who don't know, the film was all about life in Taiwan after the second world war, when the Japanese occupation ended and Taiwan was “returned” to China, then not long after that the commi-revolution happened and the Nationalist Party fled to Taiwan and set up a “temporary” capital in Taipei. Most of the refugees from the Mainland saw the Taiwanese as traitors, who took the Japanese side during the war, of cause, they had no choice when their country was controlled by the Japanese.
Anyway the place was really lovely, with lots of little streets that look just like the old Taiwan, there's also the old restaurant called “Old Shanghai” that featured in the film.

Neil and I went for lunch at this tea house where you have a great view of the mountains. After we'd ordered our meal I heard the waitress said to her colleague “hew turns out to be from Hong Kong!”
I was pretty sure that she was referring to me, so when the food came I said to her:
“I'm not from Hong Kong”
“huh” ~ waitress looking confused
“I'm not from Hong Kong”
“you heard me?”
“Yeah it was pretty loud”
Now the poor girl's all embarrassed, and before we knew it we were surrounded by her colleagues, then they started guessing where I'm from:
“You can't be from Taiwan, we don't have people like you in Taiwan” said the girl.
Man, I really wasn't sure what she meant by that, is that a good thing or bad?
Her colleagues were all very apologetic then, and said things like “forgive her, she's a stupid little girl, she's so embarrassed now that she'll probably walk into a wall soon”.
Anyway, clearly I still have a long way to go before I can be passed off as a real Taiwanese.
